University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA) has entered into an agreement with Trent University, a premier undergraduate university of Ontario, Canada, offering its graduates a pathway into medical school and medical research.
The agreement creates the opportunity for Trent students to pursue their dream of becoming physicians. Trent students will be offered direct admission to UHSA as first-year Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) students upon completing the Medical Professional Stream program at Trent. Each year, a select number of Trent students will also be selected to participate in a specialized internship in Antigua to gain targeted research experience.
“We are thrilled to partner with Trent University, a leading institution, as this relationship mutually complements our institutions’ goals of training students who will serve as the future of medicine,” states the President of UHSA, Dr. Adedayo Akande. “Our agreement is unique in that Trent students will also have the opportunity to participate in our university’s research programs while still completing their undergraduate.”
Through this partnership, Trent graduates who choose to pursue their Doctor of medicine at UHSA will receive the education, resources, and support needed to succeed as physicians. Trent students will also be offered a scholarship to support their educational goals.
“Trent University has a long history of educating well-rounded individuals. Our programs are designed to give students the opportunity to explore a variety of disciplines in multiple ways,” said Dr. Holger Hintelmann, Dean of Science at Trent University. “This new partnership with the University of Health Sciences Antigua provides our students with an exciting pathway to achieve their dream of becoming a doctor. Trent’s Medical Professional Stream encourages students to study any undergraduate discipline, and offers hands-on learning opportunities in medical-related fields.”
Educational research opportunities at UHSA include, but are not limited to, psychedelic research and therapy, clinical research, and community outreach.
UHSA was founded in 1982 in Dow’s Hill, Piccadilly, Antigua. It is an outstanding academic institution dedicated to educating an international student body in all areas of medicine. Since its inception, UHSA has graduated countless practitioners, many of whom are licensed in the United States and Canada.
